Doumbeks (doom-bek) are smaller goblet shaped drums from the Middle-East commonly used to accompany belly dancers. Click the above link or picture. Djembes (jem-bay) are larger goblets shaped drums. They originate fron West Africa and are used in all kinds of tribal ceremonies. Click the above link or picture. Bodhrans (pronounced bow-rawn, as in cow-brawn) are Irish frame drums. They are played with a stick called a tipper. The bodhran is featured in many traditional Irish recordings. Click the above link or picture.
